SBL Auto Parts Platform: A Digital Marketplace for Used Automotive Parts and Vehicle Recycling Services

SBL is a Portuguese automotive company specializing in the recycling of end-of-life vehicles and the sale of used car parts. This project involved developing a modern institutional website that helps customers easily search and find auto parts from their extensive inventory. The platform features a smart search engine that allows users to look up parts by vehicle model, license plate number, or part reference.

Challenge

The project needed to solve several key problems to create a better experience for customers:

  • Outdated Website: The company’s old website was no longer functional and needed a complete replacement with modern features
  • Confusing Competitor Sites: Existing websites in the auto parts industry had complicated designs and slow search systems that frustrated users
  • Complex Stock Management: The platform needed to connect with external systems to automatically update thousands of car parts and vehicle listings every few minutes
  • Multiple Service Types: The system had to handle different types of customer requests, including parts availability, vehicle collection, and waste management, through one unified platform
  • User-Friendly Search: Customers needed an easy way to find specific parts using different methods, like vehicle model, license plate number, or part reference, without getting lost

Our Solution

We designed and developed a clean, modern website that makes finding auto parts simple and fast:

  1. Smart Search Engine: We built an intuitive search system that lets customers find parts using a vehicle’s brand and model, license plate number, VIN code, or part reference number
  2. Service Provider Application: a management tool for packaging and transport service providers.
  3. Automated Stock Integration: The platform connects to external APIs to automatically sync and update inventory every 5-15 minutes, ensuring customers always see the current available parts
  4. Integrated Ticketing System: We created a complete ticket management system where customers can request part availability, schedule vehicle collections, or arrange waste pickup, and track all requests in one place
  5. Multi-Language Support:The website supports six languages (Portuguese, Spanish, English, French, German, and Italian) to serve customers across Europe
  6. Three-Tier User System:We implemented separate areas for public visitors, registered customers, and administrators, each with appropriate access levels and features
  7. Mobile-Responsive Design:The entire platform works smoothly on all devices, making it easy for customers to search and order parts from anywhere

  • Customer Dashboard: Registered users can manage their profile, view all tickets, and track service requests in one place
  • Administrative Control Panel: Complete backend for managing users, stock, tickets, banners, LER codes, and system settings
  • Multi-Language Interface: Six language options with easy enable/disable controls from the admin panel
